So it Begins - My least favorite part of the year

Today in north Alabama highs are in the 80s. To your average Joe this is great news. Sun is shining, weathers warm. Not for me. I am very hot natured. I doesn't take much for me to sweat. In the winter I will open my windows (don't worry they have screens) and wrap up in a comforter and it is just right.

Spring and summer however is a different story. I enjoyed the way the cold stuck around this year til late March. However, I might be paying the price with a limited spring.

Another bi-product of the warmer weather is the insects. Bees, wasps, hornets and mosquitoes are the bane of my existence during these warmer months. I cannot sit at an intersection with my car windows down with them making a beeline (no pun intended) for my windows. I have had people actually mock me when I react to a wasp or bee coming near me. My response is always "Would YOU want to stand there and get stung?"

So if I happen to be in a bad mood between now and October (because that's how long it lasts here) you may already know the main culprit: wasps from the sun.

On the upside: BASEBALL!

Coke over Pepsi - Amen!

So I got some inspiration from a forum I am on and also a can of Diet Pepsi Max I had this morning to extol the joys of Coca-Cola over Pepsi.

And I'm not talking diet alone. Everyone knows diet soda is probably the most useless thing on earth. It has no taste or if it does it's something akin to cow tinkle and even though it talks about no calories or carbs or whatnot, it's still not the best thing for you. And it contains aspartame, which a friend of mine tells me over and over again contains some chemicals that basically turn into formaldehyde when it interacts with your body temperature. Eeep.

But Coca-Cola regular is one of the best soft drinks out there. Nothing can top the sublimeness of Dr. Pepper or A&W Cream Soda. But CocaCola has always been known to get rid of my headaches. It has a flavor that lets you know you are drinking cola. Pepsi, not so much.

Wrestlemania 26 tonight

It is Wrestlemania 26 tonight. The Super Bowl of wrestling emanates from the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ. It's a funny name for the stadium since U Of Phoenix only owns the naming rights, since it has no athletic program. It's one of those vocational colleges like DeVry or ITT Tech. Anywho, me and my friend Blair toyed briefly with idea of going after having a great time at Wrestlemania 24 in Orlando, but I'm glad we didn't, as Wrestlemania 27 will be in Atlanta next year. I won't bore you with all the matches, but the two that are showcase matches are Shawn Michaels vs. the Undertaker and Bret Hart vs. Vince McMahon.

Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker is a career vs. streak match. Elliot Thorn's favorite wrestler Shawn Michaels is putting his career on the line against the Undertaker's undefeated streak at Wrestlemania. It is a rematch of last years stellar Wrestlemania match. Should be another good one, even though the Undertaker is a year older and limpier. Hopefully he has another awesome match in him.

The Vince McMahon vs. Bret Hart is a match no one thought they would every see. Google 'The Montreal Screwjob' for the history between these two. I personally thought I'd never see Bret Hart at a live event, yet I saw him February 1 at Raw in Nashville. The WWE usually has a huge storyline during the road to Mania, and this is this years, and while it hasn't been the best of all time, it has been interesting.

All that and Blair has promised to make some sort of interesting beef dip so it should be a good night for this wrestling fan. Oh and my half of the pay-per-view cost is my birthday present. Score!

The TV Theme Medley

Pretty cool.

Lights for Liberty...the antidote to Earth Hour

I don't pay the electric bill where I work, or tonight I'd turn on all the lights and electronics at 8:30pm for Lights for Liberty!  It is the antidote to this ridiculous Earth Hour business where the Church of the Environment has issued a Al Gore Papal Bull that everyone turn all their lights out at 8:30p local time. Now I am not a foe of the environment. I just don't like to have environmental crap shoved down my throat. Either you are going to do it or you're not. And some kum-bah-yah let's all hug a tree Earth hour isn't going to make me buy a Prius or use one of those ridiculous light bulbs that looks like a coil of dog crap.  So anything I can do to poke a finger in the eye of happy feely enivros gets my endorsement.

Welcome to the Moody Experience

Hello,

This is just a blog that will serve as half-diary, half-vent, half-whatever else I can think of.  The subjects will range to anywhere from politics to sports to the state of the church. Mostly it will be about the life of a 30-something single guy in north Alabama just trying to make it through life with the help of my God, my friends and family and my political ideology. Stories, rants, links, pics and other goodies will be found here. You may be offended by some of the things I write here, and that's ok, because that's why the Founding Fathers gave us the First Amendment and why God gave us free will. I can be quite stubborn in my opinions, but I always want to learn. You probably won't end up changing my mind, but I will at least listen to what you have to say. I'm the most opened minded closed minded conservative you'll ever meet. And remember this blog is about me, at the risk for committing the sin of pride, so I will either intrigue you or bore the crap out of you. But I make no apologies for who I am and I don't expect anyone else to......well, maybe liberals. :-)
